Just what is luck? How would you define luck? Most of the time for me luck is work. We often say that lottery winners have luck. If we escape from a tragic accident without any harm we are called lucky. Is there really such a thing as luck? We also say that if something happen that is bad then you got its bad luck.
I have become faithful over the small things so that I can one day rule over many things. So each time I see a penny on the ground I pick it up of course with the head facing up. I was lucky to find it there. It has been said that a long trek starts with one step; therefore I believe I can make my first million with every penny I find. Thus I pick up all pennies that I find its all “luck” to me.
We use the word luck in many phrases jokes and anecdotes. A car salesman would say that “today is your lucky day!” If you travel you may want to visit Luck Wisconsin or visit Las Vegas to try your luck.
Luck is a phenomenon that we can not see or hear. Luck can not be controlled or pulled out a wallet or purse. Luck is an uncertain realization that we really had nothing to do with our fortune or misfortune. So why does good things happen to bad people and bad thing happen to good people? Can this be luck or fate at work in our lives.
When the rain falls it falls on everyone not just a select few. Therefore storms will come to every life.
We attribute luck to animals, by carrying around a lucky rabbit’s foot. Now how luck was the rabbit if i might ask? We have a lucky shirt or coin in our pockets. If you find a four leaf clover you could have good luck. We toss coins into wishing wells and make wishes while blowing out birthday candles. We throw rice at weddings so that the newlyweds will have a good marriage. We eat black eyed peas and cabbage greens for luck in the New Year. Let me throw a pinch of salt over my shoulder for luck of course. In anticipation of thing we some times cross our fingers for good luck. Look to the sky a shooting star will bring you good luck.
On the other hand we see bad luck in a different light. The black cat that crosses your path while driving home is one bad omen. If you pick a three leaf clover you can have bad luck as well. Dont forget to knock on wood for your good luck.
Now here is the story: Without divine intervention there would be nothing to sustain us in good or bad (luck) times. History is God working in the events and lives of men. We often create the good and bad things in our lives. As adults we come to learn that there consequence for all of our actions.
