They say that fortune favors the bold and action is rewarded. In a capitalistic society it is widely known that the worm goes to the early bird and that the bread is eaten by he who, planted it, grew it, harvested it and baked it or helped along the way in that process. This is fair for all concerned and indeed makes sense in a civilization.
In sports fortune and victory favors the bold and well it should, as mediocrity has no place in sports. In war it is said that fortune also favors the bold and there are enough military battles to prove this is so. Even for those who follow Sun Tzu, it is a bold man who makes such claims and yields such power in the face of potential battle.
Many have said that discretion is the better part of valor and indeed there is something to be said for that too. However the bolder of the conflict has already proven his point if you fail to act; so it is wise to consider both sides of such argument.
In science fortune too favors the bold and in politics there can be no doubt. In business it is a far-gone conclusion repeated over and over again that the bold is indeed favored and will often receive adequate compensation along the way for their endeavors. Can you think of a human endeavor that is rewarded for being meek and walked on by the bold?
